Social Capital as our Asset

Every Child Should Smile recognizes that lasting change is built through trusted relationships. Our social capital includes connections with local schools, community organizations, hospitality professionals, workforce-training providers, healthcare and social-service agencies, housing professionals, volunteers, mentors, employers, and public leaders throughout Memphis and Shelby County.

These relationships strengthen our youth programs and support the growth of our signature initiatives. Diamond Reentry Village is designed to help formerly incarcerated and justice-involved women achieve housing stability, employment, financial independence, and family reunification. Diamond Haven connects individuals and families affected by HIV and economic hardship with supportive housing, healthcare navigation, case management, and other essential resources.

Through Diamond Workforce Development and Resource Center, participants can access career-readiness training, hospitality education, technical-skill pathways, employment preparation, resource navigation, and supportive services. These opportunities help youth and adults develop the confidence, skills, and stability necessary to succeed.

By connecting housing, health, workforce development, family support, and youth programming, Every Child Should Smile can address barriers affecting the entire household. Our relationship-centered approach allows us to expand access to resources, strengthen referral pathways, use available support efficiently, and build healthier families and communities where children can continue to learn, grow, and smile.
